One of the most important aspects of running a hospitality business is to create a unique and memorable experience for your guests. Whether you’re running a turn-and-burn hotel or you offer an Air BnB that allows for longer stays, the impression that your guests get when they walk in the front door will determine whether they’ll come back in the future and whether or not they’ll give you a positive review.

Possible the best way to facilitate a unique experience is to install custom doors and windows in your hospitality business, especially if the location has a view to offer. Additionally, installing modern doors is an excellent way to make an older space feel a lot newer and more open.

In today’s post, we’re going to give you an overview of the top door types for your hospitality business. Check it out!

The Best Door Types For Hospitality Businesses

When it comes to investing in your hospitality business, it all comes down to spending your money on things that will bring you the most return. Of course, this means that you should start by investing in some super-comfy beds and a nice shower. After the basics are out of the way, though, the next best way to enhance your guests’ experience is to install unique doorways.

Whether you decide to install a large set of commercial folding doors as the main entrance to your resort or hotel, or your in-house spa features a beautiful pair of wooden French doors, they’ll each contribute to an experience that your guest won’t soon forget.

So, with that being said, here are the main door options you’ll have to choose from when it comes to your hotel, resort, or BnB.

1) Folding Doors

If you’ve spent some time reading through the rest of the blog posts on our site, then you can probably tell that we specialize in folding door systems. So, let’s start there before we move on to some of the other door systems that you may come across.

Folding doors (sometimes referred to as multi-fold or bi-fold doors) are a door system that typically features a minimum of 3 panels but may contain up to 15 panels or more. The door panels are linked by inner hinges and slide along a stainless steel track. This allows for all of the doors in the system to be slid and folded to the side like an accordion, opening up the entire room to the beautiful outdoors.

While folding doors are typically installed on porch or patio locations, many manufacturers also make bi-fold doors designed for the interior of your business. These may be used as room dividers, in pool or spa rooms, or in an office space.

Commercial Folding Doors Vs. Residential Bi-Folds

When shopping for folding doors, you’ll typically have two options to choose from; residential and commercial bi-fold doors for business. If you own a larger hospitality business such as a major resort or hotel, then you’re probably going to want to look at the large folding doors offered by a commercial system.

These large commercial doors are designed to stand up to heavy daily use and the hardware (hinges, door handles, etc.) are able to withstand millions of repetitions of open-and-close action.

However, residential folding door systems can be a great choice if you’re operating an in-home Air BnB. They’ll act as a centerpiece for the entire home, drawing the attention of all of your guests and encouraging them to enjoy a balcony or an outdoor porch space.

Even larger hotels and resorts can benefit from installing residential folding doors within individual rooms and suites.

2) French Doors

French doors are fairly simple door systems that have been around for hundreds of years. They consist of a single square-shaped doorframe with two door panels that each open outwards and latch in the center.

French doors can be installed as an exterior door system and can act as the main entrance for your home or as a patio door. They create a classy, refined appearance that anybody can appreciate. They especially compliment colonial or Spanish-style homes.

Aside from being a good choice as an exterior door, though, you can also install interior French doors as room dividers. Installing a set of beautiful wood folding doors as the doorway to a study, library, or living room is a great way to add some separation and privacy to your Air BnB.

3) Multi-Slide And Sliding Doors

If your hotel or Air BnB features large patios and balconies that offer a panoramic view, then you can’t go wrong with a set of sliding or multi-slide doors. The difference? Sliding doors typically only feature a couple of sliding door panels, while multi-slide door systems usually utilize at least 3 sliding glass door panels.

In addition to serving as an excellent patio doorway, you can also use large sliding glass doors in the communal areas of your hotel or resort. They’re a great choice for enclosing an indoor swimming pool or as a transition from your lobby to a central garden area.

4) Motion Sensor-Powered Doors

If you own a larger commercial hotel space, then the simplest solution for your hotel’s main entrance is probably a set of motion sensor-powered doors. This is because most of your guests will be entering the hotel with lots of baggage, and may not like the idea of having to drop their bags to open a manual doorway.

5) Garage-Style Doors

One of the cooler trends that we’ve seen in contemporary Air BnBs and resort spaces is the use of garage-style doors as room dividers, patio doors, and entranceways. These garage-style doors typically feature a grid-like pattern of supports with glass windows in between, allowing for an open feel, even when the door is closed.

Most garage-style doors can also be powered with a button switch, making it easy for your hospitality employees or guests to open and close the doors at will, depending on the weather and climate.

Final Thoughts

Whether you’re trying to create a grand entrance, modernize your rooms, or just create a memorable experience for your guests, installing new doors is an excellent solution. It could be a large set of commercial folding doors or small wooden French doors throughout a resort spa space, but the more artistry you put into your doorway design, the better reviews your hospitality business will get!
